Disney Pixar Greatest

Walt Disney Records have released the greatest songs and instrumental tracks from Disney Pixar films. Disney Pixar Greatest features music from Toy Story and Toy Story 2, Monsters, Inc., Cars, Ratatouille, A Bug's Life, WALL-E, Finding Nemo and The Incredibles.

Since 1995's Toy Story, Pixar Animation Studios re-invented animation and created some of the most memorable films and film music of the past fourteen years. The films represented on Disney Pixar Greatest have earned 11 Academy Award nominations in the Best Original Song and Best Original Score categories combined.

Three composers are responsible for the music of these ten films. Composer Randy Newman set the musical standard for Disney Pixar films beginning with 1995's Toy Story. The relationship has continued through many of the films, including Toy Story 2, A Bug's Life, Cars, and Monsters, Inc., which earned an Academy Award for "If I Didn't Have You." His cousin Thomas Newman scored the two films directed by Andrew Stanton, Finding Nemo and WALL-E, earning Academy Award™ nominations for both. Michael Giacchino, who earned his first Academy Award™ nomination for Ratatouille, wrote the scores for The Incredibles and Up.
"Music can help bring out the underlying emotion of a scene like nothing else," describes Pixar and Walt Disney Feature Animations Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter. "Randy Newman, Thomas Newman and Michael Giacchino have been phenomenal collaborators in this effort. Their work has created some of our films' most memorable moments."

This 26 track compilation Disney /Pixar Greatest features some of the most beloved songs, including "You've Got A Friend In Me" from Toy Story performed by Randy Newman, "When She Loved Me" from Toy Story 2 performed by Sarah McLachlan, "Real Gone" from Cars performed by Sheryl Crow, and Down To Earth from WALL-E performed by Peter Gabriel. It also features the tremendous re-working of 'You've Got A Friend In Me' by Gipsy Kings, taken from the forthcoming Disney Pixar motion picture, Toy Story 3.
