With Woestyn, well-known local rocker Myburgh Grobbelaar releases his first full-length album. Woestyn, produced by celebrated musician and guitarist Albert Frost, is an easy-listening, adult-contemporary album packed with lingering melodies and a depth rarely encountered on the local Afrikaans music scene. “Swart Piet se boek dra ‘n jas van verdriet, ‘n bundel datums ons finale ultimatums, wees verseker hy het jou dag ook daarin” – Swart Piet

“Swart Piet”, an evocative, hypnotic track which transports listeners to a dreamy, dusky landscape while it contemplates human mortality, excellently encapsulates Myburgh’s depth and musicality as artist, while “Onbekend” and “Betyds” investigates the theme of love with a singular charm.

“Met elke stroom kom daar weer hoop, vasteland in sig, en dryf met my die branders in, en swem weer soos ‘n kind” – Betyds

The music video of Swart Piet is currently airing on KykNET, while 6 tracks from Woestyn have been playlisted on Radio Helderberg, 10 tracks playlisted on Radio Pretoria and a number of tracks from the album have been playlisted on Radio Kragbron, Radio Laeveld and Radio Namakwaland. A number of tracks from Woestyn can also currently be heard on niche programmes on national radio station RADIO SONDER GRENSE.

Myburgh’s depth and talent as lyricist and Albert Frost’s superb, seamless production makes Woestyn a unique listening experience in Afrikaans.
