Local celebrities banded together to contribute their 67 minutes of their time to performing charitable deeds in the spirit of Mandela Day
Veteran kwaito artist and record company 999 Music boss, Arthur Mafokate was in the Free State together with his artists including singer and dancer Chommee. They joined premier Ace Magashule and Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga to donate gifts to the people of the province.
Mafokate told Sowetan: "I will also be with the SABC1 soapie 'Generations' crew to brighten up the lives of the people of Kroonstad during which we will also paint several schools."
In Gauteng, Afro-soul sensation Zahara will join millions of school children who will simultaneously sing the happy birthday song.
Former Miss SA Bokang Montjane will "spend quality time" with the Nashua Children's Foundation.
"We will visit different orphanages and will throw parties for children and also give them food," she said.
Ngwale Home-Based Care Centre in Zone 9 Meadowlands, Soweto will be visited by performer and award winning music producer DJ Cleo.
