Nick Cannon is to direct 'School Dance'
Nick Cannon is to direct a forthcoming comedy, 'School Dance', which will be his first foray into movie directing.
The 'America's Got Talent' host - who has previously directed TV films for Nickelodeon, including 'School Gyrls' and 'A Very School Gyrls Holla-Day' - will mark his first venture into helming feature films with the comedy, which he will also produce through his NCredible Entertainment for Lionsgate.
The movie - which will go into production in June - has been co-written by Nick and Nile Evans and is centred on a high school freshman who dreams of being part of the most popular dance clique in his school.
However, the student has a tendency to freeze in the spotlight, leaving him with no idea how he will pass his initiation.
'School Dance' is expected to star NCredible Entertainment musical acts New Boyz and The Rangers, Variety reports.
It is not clear whether Nick - who has previously acted in 'Drumline', 'Roll Bounce' and 'Love Don't Mean a Thing' - will also appear in the movie.
The TV star was named chairman of TeenNick in 2009.
