Tell-Tale
'Tell-Tale' tells the story of an ordinary man thrown into extraordinary circumstances (ala 'Jacob's Ladder' or 'Marathon Man'). The hero of the story is Terry, a hardworking single father just trying to make ends meet while taking care of his ten year old daughter, Angela, who suffers from a rare disease that requires her father's constant attention. To complicate matters further, Terry himself is recovering from a recent heart transplant which has just given him a new lease on life.
One day Terry hears his heart beating unusually loud, so loud that he is sure others can hear it too. At first he dismisses it, but soon it becomes so pronounced that Terry finally decides to go to the hospital to have it checked out.
Upon arriving at the hospital, Terry notices that the heartbeat grows louder when a young resident passes him in the hallway, then quiets down when the resident is further away (as if his heart is telling him something or as if it is angry about something). While Terry sits down to compose himself, the resident rushes outside to retrieve a teenager thrown out of a car in the street. As Terry's heartbeat hastens once again, a car comes out of nowhere and smashes into the resident, instantly killing him. Almost immediately Terry's heart quiets down to a normal beat. Is there a connection?
Terry begins to suspect that something is really wrong with his new heart, forcing him to question his own sanity.
Through a series of shocking twists and turns, we soon learn that Terry's heart came from a murdered man. He realiSes that the heart will eventually race out of control and drive him mad in the process unless he helps solve the mystery of its murderer.
As a result, Terry sets out to find those responsible and in the process becomes entangled in a diabolical medical conspiracy which not only threatens his life, but also the lives of those he holds most dear.
